GCM Schools Visit the Anatolia Exhibition

On Tuesday, May 23rd, the students of the Bentleigh campus of the Greek Community Language & Culture Schools had the opportunity to participate in a special experience that they will remember for a long time: They went on an excursion with their afternoon school!

They visited the exhibition - a tribute to the Hellenism of Anatolia - which is being held in the library of the monastery "Axion Estin" from May 19th to May 29th, showcasing "Asia Minor - Reflections of Everyday Life." Ms. Yiota Stavridou, one of the coordinators of the program, led them on a fascinating journey through time, helping them unravel the history of the Greeks of Pontos and Asia Minor from antiquity to the 20th Century.

Afterwards, the students went on a guided tour of the exhibition and had the opportunity to see unique exhibits up close. These exhibits depicted the everyday life of the people, including traditional costumes, musical instruments, children's toys, photographs, embroidery and textiles, furniture, and images. These artefacts came alive in their eyes and imagination, mentally transporting them to unique places and unforgettable homelands.

Following the exhibition, there was a traditional dance workshop with dance teacher Thanasis Thanos, who taught the children traditional dances from Asia Minor and danced together with them.

The overall experience left a lasting impression on everyone, including the teachers and students. Special thanks were given to the organizers of the event for their warm welcome, impeccable organization, and cooperation.

The exhibition is an initiative of the Pedagogical Institute "The Hellenism of Anatolia – from the Aegean to the Pontos" and is under the auspices of the Australian Federation of Pontian Associations.

At GCM Language and Culture Schools, we believe that the cultivation of Greek culture is a complex process best served by participatory and experiential learning. For this reason, we strongly support events and collaborations like this, and in the coming days, students from our other campuses will also have the opportunity to participate in the exhibition.

ΕΠΙΣΚΕΨΗ ΤΩΝ ΜΑΘΗΤΩΝ ΤΩΝ ΣΧΟΛΕΙΩΝ ΤΗΣ ΕΚΜ ΣΕ ΜΟΥΣΕΙΑΚΗ ΕΚΘΕΣΗ-ΑΦΙΕΡΩΜΑ ΣΤΟΝ ΕΛΛΗΝΙΣΜΟ ΣΤΟΝ ΕΛΛΗΝΙΣΜΟ ΤΗΣ ΑΝΑΤΟΛΙΑΣ

Την Τρίτη, 23 Μαΐου, οι μαθητές του Σχολείου Γλώσσας και Πολιτισμού της Eλληνικής Κοινότητς Μελβούρνης (ΕΚΜ) της σχολικής μονάδας Bentleigh είχαν την ευκαιρία να συμμετέχουν σε μια ξεχωριστή εμπειρία που θα θυμούνται για καιρό: Πήγαν εκδρομή με το απογευματινό τους σχολείο!

Επισκέφθηκαν τη μουσειακή έκθεση - αφιέρωμα στον ελληνισμό της Ανατολίας, που λειτουργεί στη βιβλιοθήκη της μονής «Άξιον Εστίν» από τις 19 ως τις 29 Μαΐου, με τίτλο «Μικρά Ασία - αντανακλάσεις της καθημερινής ζωής». Εκεί, μία από τις συντονίστριες του προγράμματος, η κυρία Γιώτα Σταυρίδου, τους οδήγησε σε ένα συναρπαστικό ταξίδι στον χρόνο και τους βοήθησε να ξεδιπλώσουν μαζί της το κουβάρι της πορείας των Ελλήνων του Πόντου και της Μ. Ασίας από την αρχαιότητα έως και τον 20ο αιώνα.

Στη συνέχεια ξεναγήθηκαν στον χώρο της έκθεσης και είδαν από κοντά μοναδικά εκθέματα που αποτυπώνουν με χαρακτηριστικό τρόπο την καθημερινότητα των ανθρώπων: παραδοσιακές φορεσιές, μουσικά όργανα, παιδικά παιχνίδια, φωτογραφίες, κεντήματα και υφαντά, έπιπλα, εικόνες, ζωντάνεψαν στα μάτια και τη φαντασία τους και τους μετέφεραν νοερά σε τόπους μοναδικούς και πατρίδες αλησμόνητες.

Ακολούθησε εργαστήρι παραδοσιακών χορών με τον χοροδιδάσκαλο Θανάση Θάνο, που δίδαξε στα παιδιά και χόρεψε μαζί τους χαρακτηριστικούς χορούς της Μ. Ασίας.

Η συνολική εμπειρία άφησε σε όλους, εκπαιδευτικούς και μαθητές, τις καλύτερες εντυπώσεις. Ευχαριστούμε ιδιαίτερα τους διοργανωτές της εκδήλωσης για τη θερμή υποδοχή, την άψογη οργάνωση και συνεργασία.

Η έκθεση αποτελεί πρωτοβουλία του Παιδαγωγικού Ινστιτούτου «Ο Ελληνισμός της Ανατολίας – από το Αιγαίο ως τον Πόντο» και τελεί υπό την αιγίδα της Αυστραλιανής Ομοσπονδίας Ποντιακών Σωματείων.

Στα Σχολεία Γλώσσας και Πολιτισμού της Ε.Κ.Μ. πιστεύουμε ότι η καλλιέργεια της ελληνικότητας είναι μια σύνθετη διαδικασία, την οποία υπηρετεί με τον καλύτερο τρόπο η συμμετοχική και βιωματική μάθηση. Στηρίζουμε, γι’ αυτό, σταθερά εκδηλώσεις καΙσυνεργασίες όπως αυτή και θα συμμετέχουμε και με μαθητές άλλων μονάδων μας τις επόμενες μέρες στην έκθεση.
