Statement by the Greek Community of Melbourne and Victoria on the Tragedy in Tempi

The Greek Community of Melbourne and Victoria (GCM) expresses its deep sorrow and solidarity with the families of the victims of the tragedy in Tempi. An event that has shaken Greece and all of Hellenism, leaving behind untold pain and unanswered questions.

Our hearts go out to the people who are grieving. No distance separates us.

We are standing with all those calling for accountability and joining with all the Greek Communities of Australia and every voice demanding truth, transparency and justice. We call on the Greek Government to ensure that there is no cover-up and that those responsible for this unspeakable tragedy are held accountable for the loss of 57 innocent souls.

The Board of Management of the Greek Community of Melbourne stands by the grieving families and fully supports every effort for justice.

We do not forget. We do not remain silent. We ask for justice.
