Following Apostle Paul
On the commemoration of the Apostles Peter and Paul, the South Morang and Alphington school campuses of the GOCMV Schools participated in an original, experiential, and interdisciplinary educational activity designed by theological educator Manto Hatziemmanouil.
The memory of the Apostles Peter and Paul is celebrated on June 29 and holds great significance in Greece and Cyprus, as they are credited with spreading Christianity throughout the Mediterranean region.
Through playful processes, the students followed Paul, the Apostle to the Nations, on his three great journeys in the Mediterranean. They created a map of his travels and learned about the places, people, habits, and tastes of the Mediterranean region.
The students also got to know the ascetic figure of the Apostle Paul through the technique of hagiography.
Particularly important was the lesson on emotional education, which developed and enriched the program. Inspired by the "Hymn of Love" written by the Apostle Paul (1 Corinthians 13:1-13), the students explored the emotions of repentance, forgiveness, acceptance, and love. This facilitated another journey—one of self-knowledge and acceptance of themselves.
