Event Details

Shakespeare’s royal characters are the stuff an actor’s dreams are made of and a wonderful way to explore notions of status and power. Think Richard III, The Macbeths, Cleopatra, Henry V, Titania the Fairy Queen, King Lear and so many more.

This workshop will investigate the motivations and influences of these pre-eminent characters’ while exploring Shakespeare’s themes and language through drama exercises and games.

Participants will explore selected speeches and choose one to rehearse and perform. With professional actors guiding the process, young actors will develop techniques for learning lines, character development, physical and vocal techniques, and experimenting with form, style, and adaptation.

This workshop experience will be lively, supportive, and engaging for all participants and is tailored to foster an ensemble approach to performance-making, just like the real world of theatre!‍
